At Nova Health Co we offer The Positive Birth Program by Hypnobirthing Australia, where we offer comprehensive childbirth education to help you prepare for a positive and empowered birth experience. Our program is designed to empower and support women and their partners by providing them with evidence-based information, tools and techniques to help them feel confident and in control during labour and birth.
Our program is suitable for first-time parents as well as those who have had previous births, and it covers everything from the physiology of birth to practical tips for managing pain and relaxation techniques. We believe that birth is a natural and normal process and that it can be a positive and empowering experience.
Our classes are led by certified Hypnobirthing Australia practitioners who have undergone extensive training and have experience working with women and their partners.
We understand that every birth is unique, and we tailor our program to meet your individual needs. Our aim is to help you and your partner feel informed, confident and excited about your upcoming birth.
What is Hypnobirthing?
Hypnobirthing is as much a philosophy of birthing as it is techniques. When a mother and her birth partner are able to approach their birth without fear and with knowledge and tools for the birth – then their birthing can be an empowering & positive experience.
Self-Hypnosis is just one of the many tools we teach for positive birthing, it is similar to deep relaxation and does not involve you been unconscious or under anyone else’s power. It is simply a tool that helps you to harness the power of your own mind to release fear and allow your birthing body to do what it is designed to do.
How does Hypnobirthing differ from other methods of childbirth education?
Where other programs often focus on knowledge and ‘distraction techniques’, Hypnobirthing goes deeply into the mindset of birth. So in addition to education on what to expect, it teaches us how to harness the body’s natural hormones that help us to work in harmony with our body and baby. The program teaches women and their partners not only ‘what will happen’ but also ‘what they can DO’ to create a more comfortable, calm, empowered experience. Hypnobirthing uses self-hypnosis as a signature tool to teach parents-to-be to harness the power of their own subconscious mind to control their perception of birth.
When should I start classes?
You can begin Hypnobirthing at any time, but we recommend that the optimal time to start your course is between 20-32 weeks. This will give you time to practise the self-hypnosis, relaxation and other effective techniques for gentle, easy birthing but also ensures that the course is still fresh in your mind. If you are outside of that range please don’t worry, you can definitely still attend the classes and achieve a beautiful, calm birth.
If I can’t attend the group program do you have any other options?
Absolutely, we aim to make birth preparation accessible and flexible.
As well as our signature Hypnobirthing Australia program we also also offer a private birth coaching bundle.
This gives a more more flexible option of completing the self paced 6hr Hypnobirthing Australia Online Hypnobubs Program in combination with a 2hr private birth coaching session.
The online course covers the very best bits of our signature face to face program, and when combined with a private session allows us to personalise your practice, expand on the tools, techniques and teachings, answer any questions you have and make sure you have all the tools you need for your most positive birth experience.
Who do I bring to classes?
Bring yourself and one birth partner/companion. Your birth partner can be your partner, sister, friend, mother – whoever you feel will best support you throughout your pregnancy and birth. However, you are also welcome to come solo if you prefer.
What should I bring?
Everything is included, however please wear comfortable clothing that you can easily relax in.
We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the First Australians and Traditional Custodians of the lands where we live, learn and work.
