About Us

Nova Health Co was created in 2021 by Dr Trudi Beck, Dr Carl Henman and Jenna Mooney.  It was born via a shared vision to provide innovative and holistic services that enhance the health and wellbeing of women. Where women can access high quality, evidence-based services, via a team of like-minded professionals that collaborate to achieve the best outcomes. We opened the doors to our purpose-built clinic in October 2022 and continue to grow our extensive list of individual health care services, groups and workshops. We are excited for you to meet our amazing team, to welcome you to our clinic, and to support you and your family on your journey.

After being born and raised in rural NSW, Trudi moved to Sydney and completed her medical degree at UNSW. 

After graduating with honours, she met and married a fellow junior doctor Chris and they moved around the region for specialist training. In 2016 they permanently relocated to Wagga and enjoy life on a small farm with their 3 children.

Professionally Trudi now splits her time between Nova Health Co and obstetrics at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, where she has provided intrapartum care since relocating here. 

Her passion for seeing families thrive encouraged her to become a Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in 2019 and a Possums Accredited NDC Practitioner. She now practices with a style heavily influenced by Possums & Co Neuroprotective Developmental Care. 

Trudi enjoys all aspects of women’s health and early life care and has a holistic approach to assisting women and their families flourish. She enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team and utilises all the services Nova has to offer in assisting her patients meet their goals.

Dr Carl Henman

Director
Obstetric GP and Fetal Sonologist

After completing his medical degree Dr Henman worked as a GP Obstetrician for approximately 9 years. Over that time he delivered about 1000 babies!

Prior to commencing his medical studies in 2003 he spent 10 years in Medical Imaging, specialising in ultrasound. 

He also has sub-specialty training in ultrasound assessment of pregnancy and gynaecologic conditions.  

At NovaHealthCo. , Dr Henman reports and / or performs your ultrasound and liaises with either the in-house team or your external referrer regarding the results. 

If the unfortunate situation should arise where your pregnancy is regarded as high-risk or your baby is suspected of having an abnormality, Dr Henman has established relationships with multiple tertiary fetal medicine units. Hence you can keep a local presence in your journey even if you have to attend a larger centre for further management.

Jenna has worked in pelvic health physiotherapy for many years. She has extensive experience across both public and private sectors and has worked in a range of multidisciplinary teams.  She previously owned Riverina Pelvic Health, and joined forces with Dr Beck and Dr Henman to create Nova Health Co in 2021.

 

Jenna is passionate about all areas of pelvic health.  She has completed extensive postgraduate university level training and is a Titled Women’s Health and Continence Physiotherapist (as awarded by the Australian Physiotherapy Association).   Jenna feels pelvic health is an incredibly rewarding area to work in, yet an area that is not spoken widely enough about.  She is passionate about changing this.

 

Jenna prides herself on her ability to listen to, understand and educate her patients, and loves working with them to help achieve their goals.  She puts a real focus on helping them through these often-personal issues with compassion and understanding.  She is a mum of 2 young boys, and personally understands the impacts of pregnancy and motherhood on our body.  She is passionate about helping women remain active and pain-free throughout pregnancy, alongside promoting safe recovery and return to exercise following birth.  She has extensive experience in treating a wide range of women’s and men’s pelvic health conditions, including bladder, bowel, pelvic pain, prolapse and surgical presentations, and realises the significant impact these conditions can have on a person’s quality of life.

Carla is a GP who recently returned to the Riverina area with her young family.  Her medical career began in Wagga over a decade ago when she was an intern at the old Wagga Wagga Base Hospital.  She is focused on helping women of all ages optimise their health and wellbeing and is also experienced in managing common early childhood conditions.  Carla particularly enjoys helping women navigate the perimenopause as comfortably as possible. Currently she is in the process of completing Possum’s accreditation to support new Mums with breastfeeding and sleep issues in those early months.

Kate has over 12 years of experience working as a teacher in early childhood, primary school and secondary school settings. Over the last six years, and since becoming a mum, Kate has focussed her attention on working with families around connection and attachment with their children. Along with her understanding of child development, Kate has completed additional training in evidence-based programs and approaches to promote parent wellbeing and enhance parent-child connection, including Tuning in to Kids Facilitator training; Coaching; Neuroprotective Developmental Care (Possums approach) for Educators; Mother Goose; and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy strategies. Kate loves talking with families, reflecting on their unique needs and story, and she is looking forward to working with you to find the parenting rhythm that works for your family. You’ll also find Kate delivering the ‘Starting Solids’ and ‘Parenting at Mealtimes’ workshops, exploring parenting and family connections through food.

Tiff is an Accredited Practising Dietitian & Nutritionist with over 10 years experience. She is a certified fertility, pregnancy and postpartum dietitian specialising in women’s health.

 

She supports clients for a range of nutrition concerns and conditions including women’s health conditions such as endometriosis and PCOS, fertility, pregnancy, diabetes, chronic disease, weight management and gastrointestinal disorders.

 

In addition to her experience as an APD, Tiff has a keen interest in pregnancy, birth and group education. She is a Hypnobirthing Practitioner Childbirth Educator (HPCE) and certified prenatal and postnatal yoga instructor. She delivers both the Hypnobirthing Australia Positive Birth Program and yoga classes for pregnancy and postpartum at Nova Health Co.

KRISTY OLIVER

Kristy is an experienced women’s health physiotherapist who has completed multiple courses in the areas of women’s and pelvic health, at introductory and advanced levels, including APA Women’s Health & Pelvic Floor Courses, Prolapse/Stress Incontinence, Anorectal Dysfunction, The Childbearing Year, Birth Choices and Abdominal Wall and Diastasis courses.  She has also completed APPI Matwork Pilates levels 1-3.  Kristy also has lengthy experience in musculoskeletal physiotherapy.

 
 

Kristy has a young family of her own, being a mum to 3 small children.  The pregnancy, delivery and recovery from birth of her own 3 children has only strengthened her passion for helping women through this stage in their life and into the years to come.  She feels passionately about raising awareness of women’s health and providing women with education and care to ensure they feel supported and empowered through their pregnancy and post-partum period.  She particularly enjoys educating and caring for women during pregnancy to help with preparing for birth, helping them stay active and pain-free and planning for their recovery post birth.

Hannah Alchin

Hannah is an experienced Women’s health physiotherapist. After working as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist and teaching Pilates in Sydney and London, she developed a passion for assessing, treating, and empowering women through their life stages. Hannah has completed multiple Women’s Health Training Association (WHAT) and Australian Physiotherapy Association (APA) courses and while working at a busy Sydney Women’s health clinic. Hannah has recently relocated back the Riverina after giving birth to her daughter 9 months ago. She is now excited to continue to help and assist women in the rural setting.

 

Hannah understands that seeking help can often be the hardest step and is eager to help each individual reach their goals to enable positive outcomes and improve quality of life. Hannah cares for women presenting with a variety of concerns including vaginismus, vulvodynia, pregnancy and post-natal care, bladder and bowel concerns, pelvic organ prolapse and pelvic pain. Enjoying an active lifestyle herself, her goal is to keep women healthy and active.

 

Hannah is a member of the Australian Physiotherapy association.

Kirsty Tucker

Kirsty grew up in far North QLD and completed her degree at James Cook University. Kirsty’s family has completed numerous interstate moves as her husband is in the Defence Force. Most recently, they relocated back to Wagga for the second time in 2022.

Kirsty has always been passionate about health promotion and education, encouraging all clients to prioritise their physical and mental health. She has extensive experience in developing individualised exercise programs for a variety of client populations, whether it be returning to gym/sport or improving functional status to complete activities of daily living.

 

Kirsty’s professional interests have shifted towards Women’s Health over the years and more so after her own experiences with pregnancy, birth and postpartum recovery. Kirsty has completed further education with Pinc and Steel International, is qualified in both matwork and equipment Pilates and enjoys helping women of all ages transition back to higher level strength programs.

 

Ultimately, her goal is to empower the women in our community to feel confident leading more active lifestyles for a healthier future.

Simone Francis

Women’s Health & Obstetric Sonographer

Simone is a highly experienced sonographer with 16 years of expertise in ultrasound imaging. Her professional journey started with her initial training as a radiographer and subsequent employment at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital. Her passion for the field prompted her to undergo further training, leading to her specialization in sonography.

 

Simone has gained extensive experience in all aspects of ultrasound, but has a particular interest in obstetrics. Her dedication and enthusiasm for obstetric ultrasound has grown over the years, and she loves providing a local service to patients.

 

For the past several years, Simone has been collaborating with Dr. Carl Henman to offer an obstetric tertiary ultrasound service to patients in the Riverina. This experience has enabled her to offer specialized care within the community.

Rachel Harmer

I have an extensive background in trauma counselling, proving psychological intervention for those who has experienced sexual assault, DV and child protection issues.

 

After becoming a mum, I was inspired to completing further training in Perinatal Infant Mental Health, focusing of supporting women and their partners throughout their perinatal period (conception to 3 years post-partum) including conception, IVF, loss, termination, birth trauma and the transition to parenthood.

 

I am passionate about women’s mental health throughout the lifespan, particularly in navigating times of change and transition, where many women can experience changes to their wellbeing, mental health and a loss of identity.

Amy Gow

Amy has 15 years experience in women’s health and maternity care, having worked in the public hospital system, in private obstetrics and gynaecology and now primary health. Amy provides midwifery care to pregnant women and supports families with babies up to 12 months old with feeding, sleep and mood/mental health concerns. Breastfeeding support, sleep optimisation and assisting families with adjustment to life with a newborn are Amy’s main role and she enjoy helping families overcome these challenges using a gentle, evidence-based approach.
